Did you know?
--If you grate a stick of butter with a vegetable peeler,
it will help the butter to soften quicker.
--To clean a blender: Fill it partway with hot water and
a drop of dishsoap; cover and run blender for a few
seconds.  Rinse and dry.
--If you spray your grater with nonstick cooking spray
before using, it will be easier to clean.
--You can freeze whole bananas right in their peels.
Peels will blacken but bananas will stay white. Use
for banana bread or muffins.
--You can also freeze marshmallows to keep them from
drying out.  Just snip off the amount you need with
kitchen scissors.
HOLIDAY HINTS:
--Toss dried citrus rinds into your fireplace to give the
room a spicy aroma.
--To pre-measure the length of wrapping paper, wrap a
string around the package first, then cut off the
desired length and use it as a measuring guide.
--Wet your string with water before tying a package for
mailing to keep the string from slipping and to help
the string hold extra tight to the package.
--Place several candles throughout your rooms during a
party to help cut down on the smoke.
AROUND THE HOUSE:
--Keep plastic wrap in the fridge to keep it from
sticking to itself.
--Unclog a shower head by boiling it in 1/2 cup vinegar
and 1-quart water for about 15 minutes.
--Use the water that you've boiled eggs in to water your
house plants.  The eggs leave minerals in the water
which are good for the plants.
FEATURED SUBSTITUTE:
Homemade salt substitute:  Mix 5 teaspoons onion
powder, 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon
paprika, 1 tablespoon dry mustard, 1 teaspoon thyme,
1/2 teaspoon white pepper and 1/2 teaspoon celery seed.
